A Ceasefire Will Not End Occupation

THERE IS TALK of a ceasefire to bring an end to the relentless genocide in Gaza that we have witnessed for the last 15 months.

It is strange to think that the people who are now brokering a ceasefire (US and European nations, the Arab rulers, the Israelis, the Western institutes) are the same people who have betrayed the Palestinians for so long.

While the Gazans have suffered so much and made huge sacrifices, I can’t help but think that a ceasefire has nothing to do with benevolence for the Gazans but about benefitting the Zionists.

This genocide has been a PR disaster for Israel and its supporters on both sides of the Atlantic. The entire sane world now views Israel with contempt and sees it for what it is; a genocidally intent settler colonialist state that is a true child of its European colonialist ancestors. The entire world also sees the hypocrisy of so-called Western enlightened values and the world order and institutes that they have built. 

But a ceasefire will likely let them off the hook and make Trump (and the US) look good. The media will be used, like it has done throughout the genocide, to spin a deceptive narrative and everything will be normalised, rehabilitated and forgotten within a couple of weeks. The Arab rulers will continue with normalisation. The world will move on. Until the next time.

The Israelis need a break more than anyone else and a ceasefire is their lifeline. They’ve failed miserably. With all their military might and backing they failed against the Gazans! Their economy has tanked, and their people have fled. They need an exit strategy for now. 

So they’ll regroup and re-strategise. But make no mistake this will not be the end of their occupation or malice for the Palestinians. They have clearly made known their vision for a Greater Israel as has the support from the Western governments and Christian Evangelicals seeking a hastening of the return of the Messiah.

The ceasefire cannot be the end goal. We have experienced this situation of ceasefire many times. The Zionists do not have sincere intentions. Western governments act only based on their own interests. Trump is currently focused on China and wants a stable Middle East, but it’s important to recognize that Israel’s existence is tied to its foreign policy, which aims to keep the Muslim world weak and divided.

Until this Zionist apartheid occupation is gone and replaced with an Islamic system, this will not end. A ceasefire will not end the occupation, the daily intimidation and hardship or violations. It is important to constantly keep this in mind. Palestine and its people, Muslims, Christians and others need to be liberated.

Firstly, the military machine whose ugliness knows no limits has to go.

Secondly, ⁠the racist, apartheid, occupying system has to go and be replaced with a different system.

As a Muslim, this can only be the Islamic system because that is the system that Allah gave us. It is also the only system under which people regardless of faith have historically lived in peace as citizens of the state and had their rights protected and needs addressed. That includes the right to practice their faith and have food, clothing and shelter, health and education.

That is the endpoint that we need to work towards with steadfastness. The Zionists will work tirelessly to achieve their vision. We need to work harder and endure more to achieve ours.
