THE MESSENGER OF Allah ﷺ said: “Years of treachery will come to people in which the liars are believed and the truthful are denied, the deceitful are trusted and the trustworthy are considered traitors, and the disgraceful will deliver speeches.” It was said, “Who are the disgraceful?” The Prophet said: “Petty men with authority over the common people.” (Ibn Mājah)
Gaza has revealed the painful truth of this hadith over and over again as our rulers betray the ummah.
Just take Trump’s visit to Saudi yesterday. Some of the key points from this meeting include:
US- Saudi defence deal
The U.S. and Saudi Arabia signed a $142 billion arms agreement, marking the largest defence sales in U.S. history.
One has to ask who will this defend? Will it be used to liberate and defend the Muslims who are being slaughtered nearby in Gaza and other places?
Allah demands the following of the Muslims:
وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُقَـٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلرِّجَالِ وَٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلظَّالِمِ أَهْلُهَا وَٱجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّۭا وَٱجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ نَصِيرًا
And what is it with you? You do not fight in the cause of Allah and for oppressed men, women, and children who cry out: “Our Lord! Deliver us from this land of oppressors! Appoint for us a saviour; appoint for us a helper—all by Your grace.” (an-Nisa 73)
Is this spending going to strengthen the Muslims against the enemies? As Allah commands:
وَأَعِدُّوا۟ لَهُم مَّا ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍۢ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ ٱلْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِۦ عَدُوَّ ٱللَّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَءَاخَرِينَ مِن دُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْ ۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِن شَىْءٍۢ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ
Prepare against them what you (believers) can of (military) power and cavalry to deter Allah’s enemies and your enemies as well as other enemies unknown to you but known to Allah. Whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be paid to you in full and you will not be wronged. (al-Anfal 60)
Or will it be used to defend the monarchy and the enemies of Islam?
Saudi investment in the US
Saudi Arabia committed to invest $600 billion in the U.S. over the next four years. A further $400 billion will be committed also.
This is not investment—it’s the squandering of the Ummah’s wealth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Three things cannot be denied to anyone: water, pasture and fire (fuel).” (Ibn Majah)
These are public goods—meant for all. Oil wealth can not be hoarded or misused by monarchs for their own ends.
Rather than empowering Muslims or uplifting the oppressed, this money props up a collapsing Capitalist economy that thrives on inequality.
Imagine what $1 trillion could do. Eradicate poverty. Build infrastructure for Muslims worldwide. Fund education, health, and relief efforts. Instead, it strengthens unjust systems that serve the few at the expense of the many.
Abraham Accords and Recognising Israel
Trump encouraged Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords aiming to normalise relations with the Zionists.
This betrayal has already occurred long ago. What remains now is a public unveiling, dressed up to preserve a shred of dignity amidst genocide.
Syria sanctions lifted
Trump announced the removal of U.S. sanctions on Syria, following the rise of al-Jolani, who has disavowed “extremism” and seeks Western investment for reconstruction.
Reports indicate Jolani has also agreed to give the U.S. access to Syria’s oil and gas. We are made to feel that the US is doing Syria a favour whilst they were behind its destruction for the last 15 years and they will now reap further benefits .
In an al-Jazeera interview in 2015, al-Jolani once said: “There is no trust in these Arab rulers nor in the rulers of the Gulf. These people defend their thrones and their seats of power. The closer danger gets to the seat, the more they rush to defend it. The problem is that these issues arise because a ruler wants to hold onto his throne and his seat, so he exhausts all resources to serve that seat. They (the rulers) have ended up paying jizyah to America — yes, these rulers pay Jizyah to America to keep them in power. Indeed, the Arab rulers pay Jizyah to America.”
How things have changed. Today, he too has become what he once condemned. A betrayal of the Syrian people who have suffered so much.
Iranian Nuclear Programme
Trump renewed pressure on Iran to abandon its nuclear program, offering a civil alternative but threatening “maximum pressure” if no deal is reached.
Another sign of how regimes across the region are being pulled into submission under the guise of diplomacy.
The Ummah is Being Tested
We live in testing times when the truth is absent. Our rulers and those who support them hide behind excuses and false hikmah and have no motivation to make Allah’s Word the highest.
The ummah needs to be politically and spiritually aware of what is going on so it can steer its way out of these treacherous times.
Allah says:
وَلَا تَرْكَنُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ثُمَّ لَا تُنْصَرُونَ
“And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allâh, nor you would then be helped.” (Hud 113)
The Prophet ﷺ said: “There will be rulers after me whose malevolence will deceive the people. Whoever affirms their lies and helps their wrongdoing, I disavow myself from him and he is disavowed from me. Whoever does not affirm their lies, nor helps their wrongdoing, I am part of him and he is part of me.” (ibn Hibban)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Verily, Allah Almighty will not punish a community for the sins of a few unless they see evil appear among themselves and, while they can reject it, they do not. If they do not, then Allah will punish the sinners and the entire community.” (Musnad Ahmad)
