ON OCTOBER 2ND, 1187, Salahuddin al-Ayubi, rahimahullah, marched into Jerusalem. After 88 years of Crusader occupation, the holy city was once again in Muslim hands.
But this victory did not come easily. It was not won through force alone. It was earned through patience, through strategy, and above all, through unity.
Before he could liberate the land, Salahuddin had to first liberate the hearts and minds . He spent years bringing together a divided ummah, fractured by politics, weakened by disunity.
He reminded them of their duty. He united them under one banner, one cause, one vision. And when they stood together, at the Battle of Hattin, they defeated the Crusaders. And they reclaimed Jerusalem.
This is not just history. This is a lesson. This is a reminder.
That no occupation lasts forever. That no injustice stands unchallenged, if the people rise with iman and purpose.
And today, as we witness the suffering in Palestine, we must ask ourselves: Where is our unity? Where is our Salahuddin?
Because the key to liberation has never changed.
It lies in the unity of the ummah. It lies in sincere leadership, leadership that fears Allah, serves the people, and stands for justice.
So remember: Jerusalem was not freed by words alone but by iman and action. And if we truly want to see Palestine free, then we must begin by freeing ourselves from division, from apathy, from despair.
May Allah unite our hearts, grow amongst us real leaders, and grant victory to the oppressed. Ameen.
